County Show season is off and running!

June heralds the county show season around here!  I love them – a real mix of glamour, agriculture, fun, events, shopping etc.  In previous years I’ve done the Royal Norfolk show and the Suffolk show, but this year will be adding the Lincoln too!

The season kicked off with the Suffolk Show at the start of June [2/3].  It always takes place in half term week and attracts crowds of around 80,000.  This year they had banned dogs from attending the show, which was quite contraversial and didn’t go down too well with the Suffolk doggy fraternity.

Breckland Orchard was in the Food Hall along with a whole mix of food and drink producers – ranging from the huge to some really tiny local producers.  The big county shows are quite costly to exhibit at, and its a pity that there weren’t more local producers there. Aldeburgh Food Festival which takes place just up the road in September is testament to the fact that there is a vibrant local food producer scene in the East of England.  Come on local guys – the biggest show in the county should be a good place to showcase locally produced food.

It was a busy couple of days – the weather wasn’t as hot as last year, but good fun had by all nevertheless.

This week its the Lincoln Show, next week the Royal Norfolk……………very much looking forward to both!
