Claire becomes a 'Dragon' and part owner of a new business!
We heard 7 pitches in total – ranging from T-Shirts to fitness videos. And if truth be told – they were just amazing! It was hard to know which one to invest in. But needs must, and after some hard negotiation I am now the very proud sleeping partner and investor in ‘Soup-er’!
Soup-er is the brainchild of Sean, Eva, Chloe and Lauren. They’re going to sell cups of homemade tomato soup in the playground after school. The costings have already been done with military precision, forecasts, pricing and equipment all worked out – and I think its going to a real success! I feel in Team Soup-er that my £20 investment is safe and will reap dividends.
I was there partly in my role as a UK Female Entrepreneur Ambassador – encouraging girls in particular to think about entrepreneurism as a realistic career goal. It was perhaps appropriate [though not planned!] that team Soup-er was 75% female. Poor Sean admitted he’d been a bit miffed at the start to be put with so many girls, but that the team had worked really well together.
I was just so impressed with the standard of the Year 6’s at Brundall – the school motto is ‘be extraordinary’ and they absolutely lived up to that. They were confident, outgoing, polite, dynamic and had clearly grasped the Dragons Den task and run with it. With class teacher Mr Dooley’s support there were more than a few entrepreneurs in the making!
Team Soup-er get going for business in a week or so. Let’s wish them [and their soup making arms] the very best of entrepreneurial spirit. I have a feeling my money is safe with Sean, Eva, Chloe and Lauren xx
