Running in a good cause.........
I’m always one for a challenge and yesterday I completed a personal challenge by running a 10km race! I am by no means a natural athelete but sheer will power and determination hauled me round. There were a lot of folk who did a combination of walking and running, but I was absolutely determined to run the entire way……..maybe not the fastest, but I did feel very proud to have completed the 10km.
Life is never smooth – and I even had a mishap on the way to the start! I have an old and niggling ankle injury which has prevented me from running for the past year……..and en route to the start I slipped on the bumpy terrain and twisted my ankle all over again. 10 mins before the start and I was hobbling and unable to put any weight on it…….not ideal! Still needs must…………
I follow Paul Saxton on Twitter, and just before Christmas Paul wrote a lovely [and tear-jerking] blog about how EACH has impacted his life. It made me want to do something for EACH this year………..and here’s my first challenge completed. It’s part of year long challenge to raise money for EACH through 2012, both personally and with Breckland Orchard.
So today I feel a mixture of leg-weary, but also energised and invigorated…………..and wanting to do it all over again so that I can improve and get better!
