Jam-tastic........Thank you x
The food world is a small one, and since starting Breckland Orchard I’ve got to know lots of other fantastic food producers. Vickie Humber of Humbers Homemade is one such – I can’t actually remember when we first ‘met’, maybe it was over Twitter, maybe it was at a WIRE event [she’s a fellow member of WIRE]. At any rate, I’m proud to have a world jampion jam maker as a friend. Have a read about how and why she set up the business [it’s a special story]
So when Vickie was seeking investment via Kickstarter for her new premises, I was delighted make a small contribution to help fund her dream. I rather like the idea of Kickstarter, and I love the idea of seeking investment from people who believe in you and your idea rather than a sterile bank. Vickie did so well she raised nearly 25% over the initial £2,000 that she was seeking.….
And it was a lovely, lovely surprise when this turned up chez Martinsen on Saturday morning:
A lovely jar of Vickie’s Chilli Jelly [yum!] with a lovely handmade note to accompany
So thoughtful……and I am just so proud of everything that Vickie and Humbers Homemade has achieved in such a short time. I hope the new unit, funded by Kickstarter investment helps her fly even higher.
