Posh Grub chez Grub Club...and networking amongst foodie peers..
A few weeks back I had a really lovely night at the Hole in the Wall at the latest meeting of the Grub Club.…….run by Vhari Russell [aka the Food Marketing Expert] and Kelly Moulson [of Rubber Cheese].
The aim of Grub Club according to their website is: A food networking club based in Cambridge, for people in or supplying, the food and drink industry. A place to get foodies together, chat, network and collaborate to make amazing things happen. Our aim is to hold quarterly networking dinners (with the occasional inspiring speaker) in fantastic surroundings, with great food and drink. Giving you the time to talk and build relationships.
Last month was my first time and it really was everything that Vhari and Kelly promised………lovely food in a relaxed atmosphere with some really interesting foodie folk. A real cross section spanning early start ups to established businesses………and plenty of new faces that I’d never met before but it was great to hook up with. The fact that everyone was from a foodie background gave it a really different feel to a ‘standard’ networking event, where it generally feels as though everyone is in the professional services industry. So it was genuinely lovely and refreshing to be amongst industry peers……Hoorah!……….the amazing food was the icing on the cake….
Food was courtesy of Alex Rushmer of the Hole in the Wall….Alex was runner up in Masterchef a few years back, and is a firm face of food/drink in Cambridgeshire. We really had a treat of a meal…lots of oooh’s and ahhh’s from our end of the table. The picture shows dessert, which was a deconstructed Lemon Meringue which was totally delish!
There was an option of moving between courses……or staying put. I was having a fascinating conversation with Hal [founder of Cambridge Wine Merchants] and Laura [aka the Canesmith], so decided to stay where I was! The next Grub Club meeting is taking place this week as part of Eat Cambridge 2015……..I’ve persuaded a few other foodie friends to come along this time round…….should be a good night at Fitzbillies!
