Some lightbulb moments...with a little help from some friends!

congham hallI’ve been meaning to head over to Kings Lynn for a while, so when I saw that Norfolk Chamber were holding a Breakfast Meeting there, it seemed the perfect opportunity! A great excuse to meet some new faces and enjoy the amazing breakfast setting of Congham Hall.  I’d stayed there a few times whilst I was with Mars, but had forgotten just how lovely it is!

The speaker was James Scott of MVenture.  I’d met James before, and he gave a really fantastic speach about ‘The Changing Rules of Marketing’.  He’s very passionate about his subject matter and managed to persuade even the most dyed in the wool that it ‘s really worth embracing the new marketing tools – such as blogging, social media etc. James and I share a background in big-brand marketing, and like me he thinks that having a smaller budget just makes you more creative [and by default an embracer of new methods of Marketing]. It was a really thought provoking speech that certainly got everyone thinking and talking about what new marketing tools were were all using. A great breakfast, great company and a great speaker – yes, a great start to any day!

james scottI chatted with James afterwards and we were bouncing around a few ideas, which was great.  Belbin has me defined as a Plant [or creative type] and if I start thinking of ideas then I tend to think away like crazy!  Time to hone those ideas………………..

colinSo I turned to a very good friend Colin Maclean of Presentation Works.  Colin is creative, commercial and just a great sounding board.  We met up today for a coffee at Presentation Works HQ in Six Mile Bottom and brainstormed some more.  I came away feeling really inspired and full of energy to go-do!

So watch this space…plenty of marketing ideas washing around in my head.  Thank you James and Thank you Colin for being that catalyst for thought!
