Abergavenny Food Festival 2016
September is definitely Food Festival season…..and they don’t get much inspirational, more lively and well…beautiful than the Abergavenny Food Festival. I grew up in a tiny hamlet called Llangwm, which is between Usk and Chepstow in the Wye Valley…….so Abergavenny [or Aber as its known locally] was just up the road. The Festival has just blossomed since its inception in 1999 and never looses its magical atmosphere.
We had a stand in the Lower Brewery Yard, which is a Street Food kind of area.
Its just down from the Market….where every year there are some amazing ‘flying statues’….the owls this year were amazing!
Ma Breckland…..aka my mum came to help…even on the Sunday which was her birthday. Small businesses like mine can’t function without calling on the help of family and friends, so it was lovely that she was able to help out!
The weather was just fabulous…an Indian summer weekend for sure. I made the error of wearing a long sleeved top on Day 1 which was definitely a mistake…..short sleeves for Sunday and boy did I need it!
It was a lovely weekend……..we worked long and hard….but when you are surrounded by such magnificent foodie friends and in such a spectacular setting then it can hardly be called work….that’s the joy of running your own business.
