Go Sober October.....
Go Sober for October is an initiative run by Macmillan – to encourage people to go alcohol free during the month of October and raise funds for a very worth cause!
And although lots of folk are extolling the virtues of a clearer head, clearer skin and better sleep…..another by-product is discovering new and lovely drinks. Finding something different and that you hadn’t perhaps tried before – case in point being the lovely email that we received this morning at Breckland Orchard HQ from LC
I have recently sampled your Strawberry & Rhubarb – it was fabulous, and a pleasant change from orange based drinks. I am currently doing ‘sober for October’!!
If you are doing Go Sober for October then you are down to the last 10 days and our 5 top tips to see you through to Halloween as follows:
- DRINK T’s
Instead of a Gin & Tonic try just Tonic…..garnished with ice and a slice, and perhaps a juniper berry or a sprig of rosemary in the glass too. Shhhh – you’ll never know!
Mix up some amazing mocktails for an end of the day treat. Ginger Beer and Cranberry juice is our personal favourite here at Breckland Orchard HQ ….equal measures of both, with a squeeze of Lime.
- MAKE YOUR DRINKS BEAUTIFUL
Soft drinks don’t need to be boring! Use beautiful glassware….who says squash can’t be served in a champagne flute? Use lovely garnishes, and interesting ice cubes [how about cubes with little pieces of herbs/fruit in them]. In short – go crazy and adorn your drinks with imagination to add some interest.
- FEEL SMUG ABOUT SAVING….
You’re probably feeling richer the pocket [due to saving money] and poorer on the calorie front [from saving all the calories] so go ahead and feel smug!
- HYDRATED SKIN…..
Your skin is going to be glowing, and rather than stripping your skin of hydration you’ve no doubt been drinking the recommended amount of fluids….and that’s no bad thing!
