Glasgow here I come!
I’m so excited to be going back to Glasgow in less than 2 weeks time! I am up there for the Scottish Speciality Food Show at the SECC from the 23-25 January. I’m really looking forward to tasting my drinks to lots of Scottish trade buyers. I’ve got two wholesalers in Scotland, so hoping to meet exciting customers too.
I adore Glasgow, and spent four very very happy years studying there as a student – at the mighty Strathclyde University. I was there from 1988 – 1992, as a fledgling undergraduate, studying Marketing. I grew up in South Wales, so all my teachers thought I was raving mad to go all that way to Glasgow to study, but I was pretty determined. Back in the 1980’s Marketing was still a relatively new discipline, and there were only two universities that had it as a pure degree subject, so I guess I was pretty attracted to the new even back then! It all turned out well! I loved marketing, loved Strathclyde and even graduated with a first.
I also met my wonderful husband at Strathclyde! He’s Norwegian and had come over to study Electrical Engineering. I used to joke to my friends at the time that I was going to Glasgow to meet and marry a man in a kilt. For the record, Mr Breckland has worn a kilt [once] so I guess my dreams came true after all.
Fabulous memories and friends from back then, and hoping to have a great time at the SECC from 23- 25 January. If you are at the show PLEASE come by and say hello – it would be lovely to meet you!
