The Best Autumn Food Festivals - Hooray for Aldeburgh!

by Claire Martinsen on Fri 11th Sep 2009 20:09

aldeburgh festivalVery excited to read the Observer’s top choices of Food Festivals last weekend [06.09.09] – and The Aldeburgh Food and Drink Festival was a top tip!

Here’s what the Observer had to say ‘Now in its fourth year, the Aldeburgh Food and Drink Festival is all about celebrating local produce.  Alongside the main festival at Snape Maltings, where there will be more than 70 exhibitors, there are fringe events at farm shops, breweries and nature reserves across East Suffolk….check out the cookery demonstrations with Fergus Henderson and Stuart Oetzmann’

aldie 2The main part of the festival is at Snape Maltings [such a beautiful location] on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th September……..and we will be there with our lovely Breckland Orchard drinks.  SOoooo looking forward to it, and to catching up with other exhibitors and fellow food enthusiasts.  After having Jules & Sharpie [makers of the best Pear chutney ever] and AlderCarr [and their delicious fruit cream ice]  as our neighbours at SFFF we are looking forward to seeing them again. Dying to catch up with Lucinda at Munchy Seeds [mmmm we are missing the  office Vanilla Pumpkin seeds here since they ran out!], Calvors Brewery and the Hill Farm Oil crew – they are all great folk who make stunning products with passion.  There are going to be loads of top quality producers at Snape….the organisers have put together a great couple of days.  It’s going to be a family affair at the Breckland Orchard stand- me, my mum and a family friend called Vera! Come by and try some of our wonderful drinks – it would be our absolute pleasure.

Mark Hix, the restauranteur writer and chef has Aldeburgh as his favourite food festival of all….’I love Aldeburgh. It is not as big as, say Abergavenny; it has more of a local feel, which I like, but it still attracts a good crowd and some great local producers’

Roll on the end of the month……..
