Amazing Abergavenny......

by Claire Martinsen on Tue 22nd Sep 2015 10:50

*Just* back from Abergavenny Food Festival last night…..two days of foodie fun in the South Wales rolling hills.  I grew up a stonesthrow away ….in a small village called Llangwm, which is just outside Usk.  My granny, Jessie also lived there.  So its aways a pleasure and a joy to ‘go home’ and spend a few days amongst familiar hills and valleys as opposed to the flat lands of the East of England!

Market hallWe were in the Lower Brewery Yard, which was a  kind of ‘food-to-go’ area…….lots of lovely street food, drinks, cocktails and other deliciousness!

LobsterLast year the Festival had 31,000 visitors and they were hoping to have more this year…..it certainly felt very busy!

ChurrosIt’s a real ‘town’ affair, with lots of locations spread throughout the town and castle….as opposed to many food festivals that are concentrated in a specific area.  It gives Abergavenny a very unique feel….even the charity shops in the High Street join in and have a drive on selling 2nd hand books and baking equipment.

AbersignLower Brewery Yard was open until 10pm on the Saturday night…..so we really did come home very tired indeed……..but great time, great fellow foodies, great memories x

OttolenghiThis is the great-great Ottolenghi….was SUPER-excited to meet him at the show!
